SNA, AMISOM Capture Four Villages from Al-Shabaab Militants in Somalia

August 10-13, Al-Shabaab under the leadership of the current leader (Abu Ubeidah aka Diriye) continue to weaken. Military intelligence reports of top leadership including the militant Shura Council being hit on Saturday in SNA and US air raids Saakow FOB, Middle Jubba, Southern Somalia.

Separately, SNA backed by AMISOM peacekeepers have dislodged Al-Shabaab from for key locations near Bardheere town in southern Somalia’s Gedo region.

Latest military report from Somalia indicates that SNA soldiers launched an operation on Monday 15th August 2016 to flush out Al-Shabaab militants from four villages.

Addressing media journalists in Mogadishu, Somali Army Commander in the area Osman Sheikh confirmed of the launched operation aimed at liberating key localities from Al-Shabaab militants.

Osman Sheikh pointed out that SNA’s 9th Division conducted an operation targeting Al-Shabaab militants in Matano, Anole, Tubako and Qutaley locations which lie about 30kilometers south of Bardheere town.

Osman Sheikh added that SNA and AMISOM operation gaining traction; took control of all the four regions. Militant casualties and destruction of two makeshift camps reported.

According Osman Sheikh, SNA and AMISOM troops will continue going on offensive to weaken Al-Shabaab fighters across Somalia.
