Latest media reports from Somalia indicate that a senior security officer was killed and three others injured in a suicide vehicle bound improvised explosive device (SVBIED) in the troubled capital of Mogadishu.
Referencing spokesman from the local government in Mogadishu, Abdifitah Omar Halane, the SVBIED killed a United Arab Emirates trained officer.
The car fitted with explosives targeted the security official in Shibis district in Mogadishu. The officer died on the spot and three other soldiers were injured.
Independent media sources say the official and the three other soldiers were working for UAE Embassy in Mogadishu.
The driver of the vehicle also died on the spot. The blast happened on a busy street at Mano-Bolyo junction in Mogadishu's Shibis district and it’s believed Al-Shabab was behind the attack.
A senior security analyst at Strategic Intelligence earleir had warned of increased attacks targeting on SNA, AMISOM, security installations and military bases in the coming days.
