Crackdown on criminal gangs in Mombasa continues with latest reports indicating that one gangster was shot dead by police in Kisauni, Bayusuf area.

Initial police report indicate that the gun down is a member of a group that has been robbing business owners at Kisauni.

According to Kisauni Deputy Police boss, Walter Abondo, the three gang members had robbed sh.70, 000 from a businessman before attacking him.

Police who were on patrol intervened and in the process the thugs/robbers drew machetes ready to attack the police who had dressed as civilians.

One was shot while his accomplices managed to escape. Police also recovered the crude weapon as well the sh.70, 000 the gang member had stolen.

Manhunt for the other members who escaped has since been launched.
