National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Intercepts, Foils Terrorist Car Bomb Attack

Foiled attackThursday 14th July 2016, the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) forces have successfully foiled terrorist car bomb attack and arrested the man who wanted to carry out the suicide attack.

The car was captured at El-Sha biyaha location which is some 17 kilometers west of the Somali capital Mogadishu and targeted Maka-Al-mukarama hotel in Mogadishu that is frequented by government officials and politicians.

NISA officers captured a car laden with explosives almost about to hit the entrance of the hotel where there was a meeting by local elders and politicians.

Small arms, including RPG, other assault rifles and ammunition were also recovered in the would-be car bomb attack .

Spokesman of the local government, Abdifitah Omar Halane speaking to Somali National News Agency (SONNA) confirmed that that the suicide bomber is under NISA and he is questioned for more leads.

This is second car filled with explosive elements thwarted by National Security forces in less than 24 hours.

The Al Qaeda branch in Somalia is known to attack social gatherings mainly hotels in the capital Mogadishu and has targeted innocent civilians in recent past.
