Monday 7th December 2015, recent military reports from Somalia reveal that Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) air force contingent on Sunday carried out aerial offensives against Al Shabaab militant’s operational camp in Somalia.
KDF F-5 fighter jets carried out the aerial bombardment destroying two Al Shabaab camps in Somalia’s Lower Shabelle region.
KDF air raids against the Al Qaeda branch in Somalia comes barely 2 hours after another militant’s camp was rundown in the southern region of the country by U.S. drone strikes.
Military initial report reveal the militant were inflicted heavy losses. Dozens militants were killed in the Sunday air campaigns by the KDF.
Though full extent of destruction could not be ascertained, reports indicate the Kenya Air Force warplanes conducted successful air raids against the two Al Shabaab logistical and training camps in Lower Shabelle into ruins.
Diif and Yara-lafagari villages are believed to be pro-ISIL militant’s strongholds, a rivalry faction offshoot of Al Shabaab.
Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen continues to suffer huge losses, with several of their training and logistical bases destroyed, the military strengths and capability of the jihadist outfit is slowly dwindling.
