KDF Launches Air Strikes against Al-Shabaab in Boni Forest

KDF launched air strikes targeting Al-Shabaab operatives who are hiding in the vast Boni Forest in Lamu.

According to Coast regional coordinator Nelson Marwa, authorities have moved communities lining in and around the forest to avoid any civilian casualty as the operation n to secure Boni Forest gains momentum.

Marwa speaking to journalists at the Kenya School of Government in Mombasa pleaded with communities still residing in and around Boni Forest to move to secures areas designated by the government saying terrible onslaught will be continue until Al-Shabaab elements are eliminated.

On Saturday 8/7/2017, acting Interior CS Fred Matiang’i imposed dawn-to-dusk curfew in Lamu, Tana River and Garissa counties. The curfew will go hand in hand with the operation to flush out Al Shabaab operatives from the Boni Forest.

The KDF launched Operation Linda Boni in September 2015.
