KDF-Army soldiers on Monday killed five Al-Shabaab operatives in Boni forest and recovered AK 47 riffles with 321 bullets, three grenades and several explosive devices.
According to military spokesman David Obonyo, the troops following on intelligence had been trailing the terror operatives for a while until they laid ambush in Bodhei area of the vast forest killing five of them.
The terrorists killed were part of a group that has been terrorizing residents, carrying out sporadic attacks in several parts of the country. The army soldiers are part of Operation Linda Boni, a multi-agency security force in the forest.
Last month, a group of more than 30 heavily armed Al-Shabaab terror operatives descended on Silini, Mashambani and Bobo villages of Lamu West and beheaded four men.
Members of the public are urged to immediately report any suspicious individuals – with injuries or those seeking medical attention – to security teams.
