Jamie Gonzalez Killed Brandishing at Cummings Middle School

Jamie Gonzalez, a 15-year old boy at Cummings Middle School in Brownsville was shot three times by police in a school hallway for brandishing a pellet gun which police officers thought was a real gun.

Jamie Gonzalez was killed in school after police fired warning shots and ordering him to drop the weapon orders which the 15-year old boy ignored prompting officers to open fire.

Police feared the boy would turn the gun against other students after they repeatedly asked him to lower the weapon and surrender it to the police.

Officials of the Cummings Middle School in Brownsville called in the police after identifying a student with a gun in the school compound a report that led to the confrontation.

The local police chief said the police had every right to protect themselves and students. Its alleged there weren’t many students in the hallway at the time of the shooting.
