Ishmael Wafula, a Terror Suspect Arrested in Bungoma by Anti-Terror Police

A suspected terrorist who had been on detective’s radar was on Friday evening arrested by Bungoma CID detectives and Anti-terror police (ATPU).

Ishmael Wafula who is 21 years was arrested at Bungoma bus terminus. Shockingly at 21 Wafula serves an Imam in Bukembe area in Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma South.

Wafula went missing during the holy month of Ramadan. Detectives made searches at the Mosque where he reportedly taught and then at his home where he was found with CDs of teaching by Aboud Rogo and other radical Sheikhs believed to have been radicalizing youths.

Ishmael Wafula was taken by ATPU for questioning and further investigations.

His arrest came at a time intelligence reports have been warning of Islamist group Al-Shabaab possibility of shifting their already hostile known areas;  NEP and Coastal regions to other areas such Western region.

Several terror suspects have been arrested from different parts Kenya as counter-terrorism fight against Al-Shabaab terrorists intensifies.
