Former Deputy police commissioner and Kenya Police Training College 58 year old Bernard Kimeli was assassinated on Wednesday in his house.
The former police chief was killed between after midnight and early morning.
Nothing was stolen from him or his house. He was found dead in his living room of his house in Westlands.
Kimeli death came hours before the kickoff of the recruitment of the 7000 new police officers.
Bernard Kimeli was retired in 2008 by the government in unclear circumstances and has been living silently keeping off the public domain.
He was alone in the living room when the assassins struck ransacking his drawers and taking off with some documents after killing him.
Kimeli had watched the Manchester United/Schalke game with his son Nicholas who found the body.
CID officers led by CID Director Ndegwa Muhoro are investigating the matter. Strategic Intelligence News analysts looking into the issue believe the former police boss had vital information related to the Kenya Police Training College and could have been assassinated by his former colleagues.
Kimeli either was the remaining evidence of the rot in the Kenya police recruitment scams or had high profile information that people he worked with might have wanted to keep privy as 7000 new officers began being sought on Wednesday.
