Belgian intelligence services in monitoring 60 soldiers reportedly exhibiting signs of Islamic extremism.
Belgian Defence Minister Steven Vandeput confirmed that 60 serving soldier are currently are the spy radar for portraying worrying signs of radical Islamic extremism, the Minister was responding to a parliamentary question.
According to Mr. Vandeput confirmed around 60 defence members behaving suspiciously, 55 soldiers and 5 non-commissioned officers are on Belgium’s General Intelligence and Security Service (GISS) adding they have been identified as ‘radicalized Muslims’.
The 60 monitored soldiers for Islamic extremism are not permitted to serve in armed missions.
Mr. Vandeput said the soldiers are still serving but was keen to stress that any indication of imminent departure to Islamist fertile Syrian nation will lead to immediate action.
