Bardheere Airport Attacked, 6 Militants Killed

OSINT reports from Somalia indicate heavily armed Al-Shabaab militants attacked Bardheere airport with machine guns and mortar shells.

The militants were trying to breach into a military base belonging to the Ethiopian troops in Bardheere city's airport.

The Monday morning incident took long hours of gun battle with SNA and Ethiopian troops responding to the attack.

According to Colonel Mohamud Guhad (Tima Jilac), one of the Somali army commanders, Somali and Ethiopian troops responded killing six Al-Shabaab militants.

 “SNA and Ethiopian troops repulsed the assaulters and killed six Al-Shabaab fighters in the counter-attack fire,” said Col Mohamud Guhad while speaking to the local media outlets.

During the fierce encounter, two Al-Shabaab militants were captured alive and taken to city’s police custody for debrief.

Al-Shabaab militants who are fighting for a lost course did comment about the attack.
