ATPU Officers Probe An American Arrested Over Illegal Possession of Weapons in Mombasa

Anti-terror police officers are interrogating an American arrested with illegal weapons including guns at his house in Nyali, Mombasa.

The American identified as Richardson Roller is married to a Kenyan. ATPU officers raided his house on Sunday following a tip-off from residents, regional police boss Francis Wanjohi said.

During the raid, three pepper spray apparatus, two guns and a lipstick knife were recovered in his house.

ATPU officers will continue questioning Roller for being in possession of weapons without a firearm certificate. The anti-terror police will also interrogate him to ascertain if the foreigner has terror links.

Roller is expected to be arraigned by ATPU officers in court later today (Monday 21st March 2016).

Roller’s arrest comes days after police shut two madrassas linked with terrorism activities in Likoni, Mombasa.

Officers from the National Intelligence Services and Education ministry raided the two madrassas and ordered for their immediate closure citing terrorism activities such as recruitment spots for the Somali based Islamist group, Al-Shabaab.
