Police in anti-terror swoop arrested 85 terrorist suspects in Nairobi’s Easleigh and in Mombasa.
According to Police and Intelligence reports, the four terror suspects arrested over the weekend in Mombasa were at an advanced stage plotting to carry out an attack during Eid celebrations.
Three terror suspects identified asYayha Salim Bakari – a teacher at Masjid Majilis in Kikambala, Julius Mwandenzi alias Zinde, Zebebwa, Ibras and Abdallah Ramadhan were arrested in Voi town escaping to Nairobi.
Another terror suspect, Mohamed Anguzo, was nabbed in Nairobi and is yet to be airlifted to Mombasa to face similar charges.
Fifth terror suspect who is yet to be identified escaped ATPU raid in their hideout in Voi.
Initial probe show that the five suspects had already recruited several minors aged 16-17 to join Al- Shabaab.
In another ATPU raid on Sunday, more than 80 people were arrested in an anti-terror swoop in Eastleigh area, Nairobi.
The suspects include 15 foreigners and are under interrogation for radicalization.
The arrests follows joint security agencies collaboration.
