AMISOM Mortar Shelling Targets Al-Shabaab Bases near Mahaday in Middle Shabelle

AMISOM troops in counter-terror operations fired mortar shelling that targeted Al-Shabaab bases near Mahaday in Middle Shabelle region of Somalia.

Corresponding reports from residents indicate that the Sunday 5/3/2015 shelling was intended on taking out Al-Shabaab leaders who were reportedly holding a meeting in one of their bases in this region.

Al-Shabaab lately has been planting IED on troops supply routes, laying ambush military convoys on these major routes.

Prior credible military intelligence had pointed of a possible attacks in Middle Shabelle region targeting on an AMISOM military bases on the outskirts of Mahaday town, about 100 kilometers north of Mogadishu.
