AMISOM Donates Equipment to Somali Police to Enhance Security

The African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) on Monday confirmed that it has donated a variety of office equipment aimed at enhancing security in the regional state. The African Union force donated the equipment to the Somalia South West State Police Force.

AMISOM Police Team Leader in South West state, John C, confirmed that they had received an assortment of equipment which included computers, printers, furniture, filing cabinets, solar lamps and stationery will be distributed to police stations in the federal state.

Ambayo reiterated that AMISOM remains committed to fulfilling this mandate until Somali peace and stability is restored.

He noted that donation was meant to improve service delivery by the police and also maintain law and order in the region by deterring terror threats in the country.

AMISOM police has played a crucial role in training and mentoring local officers, both at the federal and state level.

Also the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has kicked off an induction course for 39 Individual Police Officers (IPOs)  newly recruited to familiarize themselves with the Mission’s mandate and standard operating procedures.
