Al-Shabaab Militants Killed in Fierce Fighting In Central Somalia

A fierce fight erupted between SNA and Al-Shabaab militants in Hiiraan region.

A military source confirmed several Al-Shabaab fighters were killed and scores injured when the two sides clashed.

Colonel Mohamed Omar Abdulle, the commander of SNA troops in Hiiraan revealed that government soldiers raided an Al-Shabaab base in El-Ali village located near Bulo-Burte town in Hiiraan region late Saturday.

SNA raided the base from different sides inflicting heavy losses to the militants. The El-Ali base was destroyed and assortment of weapons mostly IEDs were recovered.

Al-Shabaab continues to suffer huge blows and within a span of less than two weeks, the Al Qaeda affiliated group has lost over 200 fighters. U.S. raided an Al-Shabaab training base last week killing over 150 militants who had just completed military training. The drone strike killed among them, the militant’s senior commanders.

Al-Shabaab top and middle lever leadership is slowly fading and in the coming days the Somali based jihadist group is facing complete decimation.
