Al-Muhajiroun, a branch of the Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement, Al-Qaeda’s branch in Somalia issued a statement pledging allegiance to the ideology of Al-Qaeda.
In the statement, the Tanzania and Kenya based terror group pledged to remain loyal to it’s parent terror group, Harakat al-Shabaab al-Mujahideen Movement,
Part of the statement obtained by Strategic Intelligence reads “the Emigrants of East Africa remain united behind our beloved brothers in Al-Qaida and Harakat Al-Shabaab Al Mujahideen. Our allegiance to our noble knights is based on the Sunnah and we continue to swear our obedience to our beloved brothers in both triumphant and hardships”
Intelligence analysts at Strategic Intelligence Service worried that Al-Muhajiroun was likely to join ISIS due to their constant conflict with Al-Hijra, Al-Shabaab’s main branch in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, besides Burundi.
