South Korea conducted live fire drills on Sunday successfully

North Korea’s planned retaliation was not imminent as South Korea air force manned the airspace with jet fighters.

Live fire drills in Yeonpyeong took an hour.

Seoul confirmed that it was ready to bomb North Korea artillery positions if they attempted to attack the Yeonpyeong Island during the drills

Pyongyang had threatened to attack the South if the carried out the maritime fire drills.

In November, Pyongyang surprised the world by shelling the island killing two people.

Seoul has been preparing itself for possible war with Pyongyang since then.

In Sunday’s live fire drills by South Korea, various types of weapons including K-9 self-propelled guns were used.

Residents had been ordered to evacuate to underground bunkers and many had been trained don how to use gas masks.

No incident was reported and North Korea has not issued any threats yet over the South Korean live drills
