Uganda may not produce oil for commercial sale yet after its government failed to agree with Tullow Oil and other strategic partners CNOOC and Total.
Strategic Intelligence confirms that Tullow Oil is having difficulties in agreeing the plan of the development with the Ugandan
According to SIN energy intelligence these difficulties could delay project approval to 2014/15.
However, Uganda energy ministry is worried that oil discoveries in Kenya whose commercial viability is almost confirmed could become realized causing Uganda significant embarrassment.
Intelligence gathered by Strategic Intelligence service shows that Kenya’s oil finds is becoming the likely stimulus for an agreement between Tullow and Uganda government.
SIN confirms that Tullow Oil and its strategic partners and the Ugandan government are worried that the prospect of Kenya barrels making it to market ahead of Ugandan oil could be a major embarrassment for the project and the Ugandan government.
