Tullow Oil Spuds Twiga 1 Exploration Well on Block 13T Kenya
August 22 | Posted by David James | Energy IntelligenceAfrica Oil on Tuesday confirmed that its strategic partner Tullow Oil has spudded Twiga South-1 Exploration well on block 13T in Kenya’s northern frontier, intelligence reports confirm.
The firm also went public about the progress and issued a press briefing on the spud on Twiga 1, confirming that the process was ongoing.
According to Africa Oil CEO Keith Hill, Twiga South-1 well will be spudded upto a depth of 3,114 meters.
Tullow Oil targets the same structural trend and reservoirs as the recent Ngamia-1 oil discovery 23 kilometers to the south.
Tullow discovered oil in Ngamia 1 in the same region and confirmed very high oil pay which is indicative of possible recoverable commercial oil reserves.
Also onshore Kenya, Tullow plans to spud the Paipai-1 well in Block 10A, a project that is on track to spud in early September using the Sakson PR-5 rig.
The Sakson PR-5 rig is in the process of final mobilization from Mombassa to the well site,” Tullow Oil told the press.
