5 Al Shabaab Militants Killed In US Drone Strike In Ilemey, Lower Shabelle

At least five al Shabaab militants have been killed by US drone strike near Mogadishu. The US drone is said to have fired missiles at a convoy carrying members of al Shabaab traveling to Ilemey, a rebel-led area located in lower Shabelle region, 130km southwest of Mogadishu.

According to residents, the convoy was carrying members of al Shabaab among them some senior commanders. The strike killed the militants on their way to a hideout believed to house some of al Shabaab senior leaders.

The drone strike comes a week barely since the US reaffirmed her commitment to eliminate the al Shabaab both affiliated to ISIL and al Qaeda.
