March 10, 2016: Police in Somalia’s Southern town of Baidoa have arrested 4 people with major links to al Shabaab and secretly working with the militants.

The 4 were arrested in an overnight police sweep in the town that has been under suspicion of harboring al Shabaab sympathizers.

They operation was prompted by a public tip-off to the police, recently residents in al Shabaab strongholds have turned to call upon security forces to any and all suspicious al Shabaab activities leading to meaningful arrests and seizures of weapons and other supplies targeted for the militants.

One member suspected of having valuable information on the al Shabaab network in bay region was handed over to Ethiopian troops under AMISOM for further interrogations

Baidoa is a strategic town in southern Somalia housing the Ethiopian backed interim south west state administration lies 250Km south-west of Mogadishu, Somali capital.
