Latest military reports from Somalia indicate that Somalia government forces killed nearly a dozen Al-Shabaab fighters in an intensified security mop-up operation conducted in Southern part of Somalia.
SNA forces killed 11 Al-Shabaab fighters late Friday in a remote village of Goofgaduud of Bay region.
Confirming the operation, Goofgaduud Chief, Ahmed Adan Mohamed said SNA launched a surprise attack on Al-Shabaab fighters killing 11 of them. The forces also recovered assortment of weapons and apprehended 10 others for interrogation.
Residents from Goofgaduud have been complaining of extortion from the jihadist outfit demanding unjustified levies on the poor pastoralists.
Government in collaboration with local leaders has agreed to work closely in operations against the Al-Qaeda branch in Somalia.
Al-Shabaab terrorist group is facing complete decimation with the past one week, the militant group has suffered a huge blow with U.S. drone strike killing nearly 200 Al-Shabaab fighters along with key senior commanders who had attended a graduation ceremony at a training camp.
